The WHEPP has negotiated contracts with Global Star to pay for the Satellite phone service contracts for one sat phone per hospital until June 2010. This means that you should not receive a bill from Global Star for your satellite phone service. If your facility has more than one satellite phone, your facility is responsible to pay for the service for each additional phone.
Cafeteria Funding
The majority of the Region 7 hospitals and Community Health Centers have met the deadline for their cafeteria funding requests. The Region 7 Executive Committee was given a spreadsheet with all the funding requests and the MLOR indicators the funding will help achieve. They were very impressed with the work and forethought that was put into each request. The grand total of Region 7 requests is $359,869.19.
Hospitals Reps should have received a signed MOU in the mail.
The next step is to obtain either an invoice or PO for the item(s) that was requested. For funding requests of items of $10,000 or more, a letter of completion must accompany the PO or invoice.
Although the final date to submit your PO or invoices is July 31, 2008. You are encouraged to submit your requests ASAP.
Once again the WHEPP is providing funding to increase the facilities Medical PAPR supply. The amount that a facility may request is dependent on their number of staffed beds. There is also the opportunity to apply for additional parts. Please complete the request form and the MOU by April 25th to be eligible.
To access the request form click on the Document tab of the Region 7 website.
Additional PPE requests
The WHEPP Program is offering funding to purchase additional PPE to assist in increasing the facilities supply of PPE in the event of a pandemic. Please complete the Request to Increase Facility Inventory of PPE form and let us know your intent to either apply or decline funding by April 30th.

A certificate of NIMS compliance must be on file with the WHEPP Project Coordinator before federal preparedness funds can be requested or received.

Intent to utilize funding for FY 2007 grants
There have been some changes in the ASPR accounting regulations. This year we will need to spend down the grant funds by June 30, 2008. The WHEPP will be requesting letters of intent to complete funding requirements. Please discuss this with your EM committee and try to take advantage of these funding opportunities.
ASPR/WHEPP Deliverables
Deliverables are based on the Minimal Level of Readiness Indicators (MLORI).
To assist in an “All Hazards” response, ASPR has identified benchmarks of performance measures which have been incorporated into the newly revised WHEPP MLORI. In most cases these MLORI enhance the Joint Commission and CSM requirements.
If you need assistance with completing the MLORIs, please contact: Betty Corneliuson
